Cyber Security Engineer and Backup Information Security Officer Join to apply for the Cyber Security Engineer and Backup Information Security Officer role at Radford University . Job Summary Implements and executes the cyber security program for all information technology systems and networks supporting Radford University’s daily operations. Effectively responds to security incidents, ensures baseline configurations on all IT equipment, conducts vulnerability scans and penetration testing. Collaborates with the Information Security Officer (ISO) to build and maintain intrusion detection systems, monitor security logs, respond to threats, and evaluate the security program's performance. Supports the ISO in developing security policies and maintains the security awareness program. Required Qualifications Knowledge of UNIX, LINUX, and Windows Servers. Understanding of web, application, and database security considerations. Familiarity with TCP/IP, DNS, network architectures, and hacking techniques. Experience with multi-platform environments and security issues. Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Security certifications such as Security+, CISSP, or GIAC. Experience with SIEM tools like Splunk Enterprise Security. Experience with vulnerability scanners like Tenable Nessus. Ability to create technical documentation and process diagrams. Knowledge of IAM, NIST 800-171, ISO 27001, and CIS/STIG benchmarks.
