Inventory Shipping and Logistics Supervisor Location San Luis Obispo, CA :
About This Position
This position is responsible for properly receiving incoming inventory, timely staging and timely shipping outgoing orders while adhering to safety procedures and providing accuracy.
- Must have full knowledge and background in Hazmat, Export Compliance and Shipping laws
Responsibilities
- Plan, schedule, and task inventory personnel to meet the objectives established by management.
- Provide guidance, support, and assistance to inventory, shipping, logistics, and production staff.
- Review timecards submitted by direct reporting staff to ensure accuracy.
- Maintain accurate inventory cycle counts by assigning and monitoring cycle counting of parts by classification.
- Plan and optimize warehouse layout and organization to improve operational efficiency.
- Coordinate and oversee shipping and receiving activities, ensuring timely and accurate processing of inbound and outbound shipments.
- Train and supervise inventory and logistics staff, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Continuously identify and implement process improvements to streamline inventory and logistics operations.
- Verify the accuracy of shipping documents, including invoices, packing lists, and bills of lading.
- Coordinate with carriers and freight forwarders to schedule pickups and deliveries
- Ensure compliance with shipping regulations and requirements, including customs documentation and hazardous materials handling.
- Enforce and promote a culture of safety by conducting regular safety inspections, identifying potential hazards, and implementing corrective actions to mitigate risks in inventory and shipping operations.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- Demonstrated ability to lead and supervise a team, providing guidance, coaching, and performance feedback.
- Strong knowledge of inventory control principles, procedures, and best practices.
- Familiarity with logistics and transportation regulations, including customs requirements and hazardous materials handling.
- Proficient in using inventory management software and warehouse management systems.
- Ability to utilize Microsoft Office 365 software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Sharepoint, Outlook)
- Knowledge of safety regulations and practices related to inventory handling, shipping, and receiving.
- 6 to 10 years of experience in Inventory or Logistics (Preferred)
- 2 years minimum of supervisor experience.(Preferred)
- Experience working with ERP/MRP systems. (Preferred)
- Experience with a Quality Management system.(Preferred)
- Experience using Kaizen (continuous improvement), A3 (problem solving), Poka Yoke (error proofing) techniques for process improvement (Preferred)
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal teams, suppliers, and carriers.
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced
- environment.
- Ability to draft, read, and interpret technical drawings. (Preferred)
