Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop and refine credit risk strategies for new unsecured personal loan originations in a point-of-sale context, determining approval criteria, credit limits, interest rates, and loan durations.
  • Analyze consumer credit data, including credit bureau data and alternative data sources, to assess creditworthiness and inform decision-making processes.
  • Design and implement predictive models to forecast borrower behavior, delinquency rates, and potential losses, ensuring alignment with risk appetite and business objectives.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with teams such as Legal & Compliance, Operations, Product, and Capital Markets to ensure cohesive strategy execution and regulatory compliance.
  • Monitor and report on portfolio performance, identifying trends, anomalies, and areas for improvement in credit risk policies and procedures.
  • Conduct A/B testing and other experimental designs to evaluate the impact of credit policy changes and optimize underwriting criteria.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and regulatory changes, incorporating relevant insights into risk management practices.
  • Utilize advanced analytics tools and programming languages (e.g., SQL, Python, R) to extract, manipulate, and analyze large datasets effectively.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations for senior management, articulating findings, recommendations, and strategic implications.

Required Skills/Qualifications

  • 1-5 years of experience in conducting data analytics, preferably on credit risk policies/strategies in financial services industry.
  • Bachelor's degree with advanced degree preferable in a quantitative field such as Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Engineering, Computer Science etc.
  • Ability to handle / analyze large datasets using SQL, R, Python or another similar programming language. Knowledge with Tableau or similar BI/data visualization tools is a plus
  • Strong problem solving, decision making, and analytical abilities
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills. Skilled communicator with ability to influence others
  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively and critically
  • Flexibility and ability to thrive in a rapidly-changing, fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in a quantitative field such as Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Engineering, Computer Science etc.
  • Experience within a financial services or financial technology organization
  • Experience with unsecured consumer lending products
  • Passionate about using data and analytics to solve problems and eager to learn about financial services, acquisitions strategy, and consumer lending
