Thoroughbred Title Services , a respected title agency based in Westchester County, is seeking an experienced Title Insurance Underwriting Counsel to join our team. This is a high-impact role ideal for a detail-oriented attorney with strong underwriting acumen, a customer-first mindset, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced real estate environment.
As an Title Underwriting Counsel, you will be responsible for evaluating title searches, assessing risk, and communicating underwriting decisions to legal counsel representing buyers, sellers, and lenders in both residential and commercial real estate transactions.
This position requires superior judgment, time management, and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to handle multiple priorities while maintaining a strong commitment to service excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
· Analyze title reports and real estate transactions to identify and resolve title issues
· Draft and review title commitments, requirements, policy exceptions, and related policy endorsements
· Communicate underwriting decisions to external counsel, clients, and stakeholders in a clear and professional manner
· Assist in developing and implementing internal underwriting guidelines, best practices, and risk mitigation strategies
· Provide legal support and underwriting expertise to the title production and closing teams
Required Qualifications:
· JD from an accredited law school; active license to practice in New York and in good standing
· Minimum of 5 years of experience in title insurance underwriting or litigation and residential real estate law
· Extensive knowledge of title policy underwriting standards and New York real estate law

Compensation & Benefits:
Wage: $175,000 - $200,000 annually; actual wage is based upon education and experience. Potential for annual discretionary bonus.
