About the Role:

The Yard Loader (Load Puller - Material Handler) plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation of our lumber yard. This position is responsible for loading and unloading materials, maintaining inventory accuracy, and ensuring that products are readily available for customer orders. The successful candidate will work closely with team members to manage the flow of materials and maintain a safe and organized work environment. Attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols are essential to prevent accidents and ensure the quality of our products. Ultimately, this role contributes significantly to customer satisfaction by ensuring timely and accurate order fulfillment.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in a material handling or warehouse environment.
• Valid forklift operator certification or the ability to obtain one.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in the retail trade or lumber industry.
• Knowledge of inventory management systems.

Responsibilities:

• Load and unload lumber and other materials from trucks and storage areas using forklifts and other equipment.
• Organize and maintain inventory in the yard, ensuring that products are easily accessible and properly labeled.
• Assist customers with loading their purchases and provide excellent customer service.
• Conduct regular inspections of equipment and materials to ensure safety and compliance with company standards.
• Collaborate with team members to optimize workflow and improve operational efficiency.

Skills:

The required skills for this position include proficiency in operating forklifts and other material handling equipment, which are essential for safely moving heavy loads. Attention to detail is crucial for maintaining accurate inventory records and ensuring that products are correctly labeled and stored. Strong communication skills are necessary for interacting with customers and collaborating with team members effectively. Problem-solving skills will be utilized to address any issues that arise during the loading and unloading process.
